Lexan questions?

Yea, My Home Depot didn't have Lexan (they only had 1 brand of plexi at all) I think this was because it is a pretty wealthy nieghborhood and thier focus seems to be on faucets and Sh!d.

Check out my thread
lexan vs. crystallite http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=5452

anyhow.. both are polycarbonate.. I went with the crystallite which is not as nice as lexan but still pretty darn good :D  works like a champ so far...

i've use plexi (not on CP's but for other things) and they do crack quite easily if your not careful!

I would go for lexan all the way! Or crystallite if your local home depot has that too.. (mine had all three lexan/crystallite/plexi)

$3.25/sq ft for 1/8"

Zinfari:

Brad, by your own post you actually verified Snaaake's pricing.  If a 24x36 (864 sq inches)  piece of plexi costs you $4-5 and a 12x24 (288 sq inches) piece of lexan costs you $6 you are paying almost exactly 3 times more (per sq inch) for Lexan than plexi.  Also if your local Home Depot doesn't carry Lexan (and the ones around here don't) then $30 is about right for 24x36 piece from a shop who specializes in it.

P.S.  Snaaake... I'm done defending you for the night... not my intent, but just worked out that way.  Maybe next time I'll join the flaming :P  Oh and Brad I'm not referring to your post as flaming... Snaaake's been involved in another thread that for some reason I felt I needed to defend him on then saw this post.....

Brad Lee:

sigh..

my maths have failed me :)
I geuss my point was that price shouldnt be a prohibitive factor in deciding between plexi & lexan. For my CP i have lexan, for my monitor "glass" i use plexi, and plan to switch to smoked plexi when I get my TV up n running.
just make sure that the material matches the application
