Holy crap-isn't 1500 grit known as "masking tape"?

Auto body supply stores are a good bet. 5" disks might be harder to find though... AB paper usually runs 6" & 8".

Couldn't he just get the larger size and cut it down?

A town in north texas.  I can get either the adhesive or the hook kind.  I bought some 250 fine grit stuff.  I am looking for some very fine 400 grit though.  I will check the website called grizzly.
