Games that do stuff to annoy you

They tried to make it as realistic as possible?
--- Quote ---That "feature" really makes no sense from any angle that you look at it. Since the player has to immediately cover ground he has just covered; given the fact that he made it through that ground at least once, it is likely that he can do it again, which means longer (but irritating and frustrating) play time per quarter, which means less money in the coin bucket. That is, assuming the player doesn't just say "screw it" to the "generous offer" of redoing the level, and walk away, which also doesn't put quarters in the bucket.
--- End quote ---
I think it's because you're just as likely too concerned about that one part you died at, you tend to not be cautious of where you are, then you end up making a mistake, and dying.
Then you just get pissed off, and die fairly early again. :P
It could've been that the designers wanted you to get back into the "groove" of things before you got to the place you died at previously.
But this is all speculation. Me getting older as well, I love save features in games or continuing near where I died. Even better? Save states on emulators. Hail the people who make save states possible!

My biggest pet peev with video games today is poorly written AI. Just think of how many games there are out there where they created AI to replace a human player, and the AI does crap that no human player could do.
I play a first person shooter (perfect dark comes to mind), and the freakin AI knows exactly where I am every time. Then they find me, and somehow gets a billion headshots on me when coming around a corner. I've played in goldeneye tournaments, and not human has ever done that to me.
Or I play like a strategy game, warcraft II comes to mind, and the AI makes knights and dragons and battleships even before I can get my freakin first grunt made.
Then, since the programmers made horribly godlike AI, they program the AI to do a few completely stupid things so human characters catch up. So the game turns into finding the programming defects in the AI rather than a well rounded game... :soapbox: :soapbox:
You know what else pisses me off...I don't know what Qbert is. Is he an alien? is he a muppet? and what is that tube thing coming out of him? his nose? his mouth? his part that should be covered by pants? @#$!@#$

Basically the AI has a 1,000,000 APM, while most casual players have something like < 30 APM (actions per minute). I don't have a problem with well designed AI, but I do wish there was a way for you to limit the APM of the AI to try and make it act a lot more like a fellow human would (instead of being able to have 20 different units all cast a spell at the exact same time). :dizzy:

In AI's defence, I think I have an APM of 12. :P

Also, there doesn't seem to be a method to reliably throw a super ball of your own. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, even though you are doing the same thing with your joystick and buttons.

I'm going to argue against this one. There is definitely a consistent way to do the super-throw. You just have to get the timing right, and it takes practice. (Wouldn't be fair if even a noob could throw one every time).
