This writeup is a modification to the Happ Shifter that has a single microswitch that is triggered when putting the shifter into high gear. This shifter is very cheap and easily attainable but didnt quite do what I wanted it to. Please read my writeup if you are interested in any of the following. Highlights of this mod: *Shifter clicks when pushing up and down *Shifter is held manually in position the same as holding a button down or shifter can be momentarily pressed in a direction to press a button *Shifter returns to center *Shifter is still as strong and robust as the original *Shifter can be returned to original with minor effort *Shifter used can be found second hand for cheap as it was used all through the 80's till current. *Parts are cheap for the mod Please get back to me if the mod helped or hindered you or any suggestions for improvements. Right now I have it installed in my breaktime racing cabinet and it works great. Link to Happ shifter mod writeup. http://www.nnmodels.com/breaktime/happshiftermod.html My breaktime project can be found below. My cabinet in its current form looks much different than the webpage below shows. I intend to update soon after I get done adding the Fanatec force feedback wheel. http://www.nnmodels.com/breaktime |

Cool! Looks good - read through it. Only one thing caught my eye You say: "But if you have more money than time this mod might be right up your alley." I think you meant it the other way around. No biggie, I just read the sentence a few times. Very nice writeup and nice for you to document. |

I fixed it....you are quick! I meant more time than money but I reworded it. thanks for looking!! |

Excellent mod. How are the square tubes mounted to the unit though? It looks like it is just a bolt between the spring bolt and the tube wall, but seems like it would not be a very sturdy mount, as there would be a lot of extra space in there. |

You are correct in your mounting assumptions. its sandwiched there between the bolt and the nut. It isnt going anywhere. not even with a hammer. I tested it :) |
