My CP Overlay Experince
« on: March 11, 2003, 11:24:29 am »
Well here is the printed(vinyl) version of my CP overlay

Besides the image being 1/2 short from top to bottom, and an 1/8 of an inch off lenghtwise and recutting the edges to make them straight, kinkos did a good job, I am not sure why they went ahead and cut the image themselves....

Or you could do the classic fighter configuration:

Red left, blue right.
Have you paid your dues Jack?......Yessir, the check is in the mail!

Well I have a cardboard setup made already, I will post a pic later, but the buttons are multiple colors, purple, blue and green on top, red, orange, yellow on the bottom, the Mk run style button will be either white or black, mixed at first, because i didnt order enough of those colors.....

Its not perfect, but thats what i have so far, Th MK run style buttons are different colors because when I originally ordered the buttons, i didnt plan on having them, and wanted the buttons for else where, where diff color was better... oh well, it will work for now.....

Despite his coarse attidute (which is his nature, get used to it), Snaaake makes a good point.  After years of webpage design experience, I can tell you without a doubt, that in any color scheme, you want to use each color more than once and in some sort of pattern.  For instance, the SF setup with red, white and blue, but you even have to be careful with that one (looks bad on a busy background).  Or, for instance, in my cab, the cab and joysticks are going to be black and the logos and buttons will be yellow.  Your setup just seems too chaotic.

The exception to this rule would be neo geo cabinets cuz that's just how they are, and there're only 4 buttons anyway.

I actually was thinking on my cab I was going to do a fire theme and have the 6-button setup go red, orange, yellow, but it's too late for that, i've already got all my stuff.  Perhaps on my 4-player CP.

That is what i was trying to point out..you know..atleast 2 same colored buttons in a row would be great..

PS:What is coarse attidute btw ???.
If its good thing then post otherwise dont bother letting me know.. :'(
I wasnt trying to make him feel bad or anything.. :)

Everything I bought already, and I am happy with the way it is, I am still not sure how it will look later, but I am happy with it, even if it is a little chaotic, it is just easier to explain to people which buttons do which when they are diff colors

The only thing I'm worried about is your white button positions. You better hope you measured perfectly, or that Kinko's didn't screw up the scale slightly or you're going to have white peeking though. I think you would have been safer just leaving the background there and cutting out wherever your holes landed. Hopefully it will all work out though.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

Well I just cut out some of the white holes tonight, on the one Player side, and they are perfect, I just need to make sure when I drill the wood that it is as perfect, but I dont see it being a problem, I just used it as more of a guideline....

No, I just meant that when you say something, you don't smooth it out at all.  For someone who isn't familiar with you, it comes across as a bad thing, but we know you're just being yourself --you don't hold back much.

ERRR..that..yeah sorry about that.I think we should always be honest about opinions and stuff.
I am straight forward because eehhh..thats how I am in real life... ;D
I should be careful though because some people take it the other way(the bad way of course :-[)

Here is a shot with the buttons attached to the vinyl, no backing, so it looks flimsy....
