kiddk1:
I have my cab up and running, I am using 2 happs super joysticks.  I play street fighter alot.  I cut the holes for the joysticks the same size as the buttons with a 1 1/8 spade bit.  the problem is that I cannot complete alot of the moves in SF and I am wondering if this is b/c of the hole size(it does not seem to be hitting the edges it looks okay to me) or do I just need better joysticks if so what kind should i be using.  thanks

It is definitely not an issue of the hole size, as your 1 1/4" is already larger than standard (1 1/8").

I personally never had any problems using the happ supers for SF, though my primary sticks are now perfect 360s.

It very well could be the "roundness" of the supers that is hindering you, and you may find the more "square" action of the competitions to be more suited to your needs. They use a square actuator to hit the button directly on the microswitch, so you can feel the diagonals. The supers on the other hand use a round actuator to roll across levers that then press the microswitches, and that gives a very smooth circle.

I highly recommend the Perfect 360 controllers, but they are quite a bit more $$$, and if your issue is the roundness, they will most definitely NOT help you out.

What thickness of material is the panel made from?  Are you physically hitting the wood when you move the joy?  If so, you might want to router a recess for the joy to rest in.

3/4 mdf.  no it is not hitting but it is really close.

sorry I corrected it, the hole is 1 1/8.  Can I replace the actuator in the supers, I am finding that my diagonals are not working all the time, I see the actuator is round on the supers, I bought the supers over the competiton b/c I thought they would be better. I think I may have some square actuators laying around here.

It probably wouldn't do anything to just put a square actuator on the super.

If your diagonals are not hitting at all, then you may have the actuator upside down. The super actuator can be flipped for 4-way or 8-way control.
