Anyway, here was my layout.

I'm gonna cop a backlash from this, but here goes:
Snaaake may say, "Here we have an overlay by me."
What he really means is "Here is some brilliant artwork by somebody else that I have cut out, scaled down and pasted together for your enjoyment".
SirP is absolutely right; anybody with any real experience in Adobe Photoshop could whip up a piece like that less than 5 minutes. No joke. It took you two hours to 'hunt' down a background like that? My god. Anybody seriously proclaiming Snaaakes kick-ass-ness in graphic design should really see what's goes on here.
Visit http://www.gamegen.com/ and check out the characters section, Spiderman specifically. The graphics are cool - I know, but it's not like he drew them himself or is really doing anything with them. Not to say creating a CP overlay doesn't take time, but is there any real skill involved in pasting pre-drawn characters on a pre-drawn background, then bragging about 'creating' a 'kick-ass' CP overlay? I think not.
Somebody tell me what characters that want pasted on what background so I can be called a kick-ass CP designer too...
...And if you say "Well, then YOU design something smart-ass", dont tempt me, cause I know Abode back to front, and hunting down artwork ain't that hard...
...But then again, I spose we need someone to give the 'noobs' building cabinets something to stick on their CP's!

Rasher,
My sentiments exACTly...I have always stuck true to the fact that the real artists are the ones who create this work. It is work to find the elements and knowledge to use an application to manipulate that image, but, in my opinion, the real art is the development of the individual elements.
Some would argue that art comes in many forms, and some consider page layout an art, but I am not one of those people. I have a solid understanding of Adobe Photoshop and an eye, for what I believe, is some outstanding individual art elements.
Thank you for this reminder. I think we get lost in the finsihed products and fail to give credit where credit is due.
Chuck

Eggsmuckingzactly!
See my avatar? The classic Dwarf from Goldenaxe! But I have done something with it you see, not just cut and pasted a static image - which would have looked cool (mind you) - but we've all seen it before, and that would have been BORING. That's what makes it special; it's something we remember but not as we remember it. It has a familiarity but is new to us at the same time. The basic design is already done for you, ya just gotta work wit it mon!

okay...take a deep breath... :o
No one said I drew these..these are comon sense that I got em from the web..reason it took 2 hours because I had to work on the image for a while..you know..brightness,darkness,scaling,make sure both image fit with the background..etc..
Who cares about the credits(man I wish I gave a crap)..i dont really..the guy asked if i could do some overlay so I did(even if its really easy)..
Whats wrong with being nice ???
I am no professional..Chuck is.. ;D
and the background..its not predrawn..i actually created that myself..look for that online..you wont find it because i am the only one has it(of course its not hard to do or anything).
Besides how many of you REALLY would even take a minute to do something for someone..?
Man you are cold.. :P
Relax..nothing to get mad about this..everyone knows capcom created these images of characters for their games..(mvsc2,cvs2,etc).
Have a beer or something..that will cool you down a little.. :P
Besides WTF >:(
I mean when did I ever say doin some overlay is terribly hard or anything..anyone can do this(if you can build your own joystick then this is less then nothing ;D)
I mean you just come out of nowhere and bashing me around.. :(
