| Ikari Warriors with normal joysticks? |
| (1/1) |
| AE35:
Hey all! I know that Ikari used rotary sticks, but the machines I played on back in the day used normal sticks. You pointed the way you want to walk and the bullets went the same way. Like Commando. So, since my cabinets have normal sticks, and I loved Ikari, is there any way I can get it to work? (Don't flame me saying that it's wrong :hissy: That's the I played it in the arcade) Thanks! :) Nicholas |
| DaveMMR:
Map "rotate right" and "rotate left" to two seperate push buttons. Not nearly as authentic but, hey, it works. I've never seen Ikari Warriors that had the 'shoot where you face' gameplay style -- unless you're confusing the arcade version with the NES version perhaps? |
| Howard_Casto:
Yeah, or shock troopers or one of the 30 or so ikari rip-offs. There might be a bootleg floating around, but I'm almost certain that it isn't in mame. |
| Howard_Casto:
You wouldn't be confusing Ikari Warriors with Ikari Warriors 3 would you? Part 3 has a 8-way joystick version, which is emulated in mame. |
| AE35:
I would NEVER confuse the two :soapbox: :) I live in a country where arcade games was large because of the 'china grills' on the corners. You never saw an original machine, unless you went to one of the rare real arcades. Otherwise it was all JK and compugame cabinets with different games installed. Arcade games here followed the greasebrugers. |
