31khz vs 15 khz frequency.. "whine"
« on: June 28, 2006, 03:45:43 am »
It's been over a decade since I was working with 15khz monitors [ back in my amiga days when multisyncs were common on desktops].

One thing that I've noticed with my new mame project, is that the Betson Imperial emmits a different ambient "noise" or whine when it switches to 15khz from 31khz. It isn't annoying or anything, just something I noticed, I take it this is normal operation?

If you are one of the few who can hear the ambient noise of CRT set, then yes you should hear a difference between the refresh frequencies. If you cannot normally hear a CRT television (particularly an older set), then you might have a problem.

I can hear the whine of a normal tv crt, part of growing up and working in the video/post production industry I guess. It's not bad, you don't notice it especially with sound coming from the game.
