Update: October 10, 2006
Tonight I was hoping to completely hinge the CP so I could move forward with mounting it into the cabinet itself. However, the cabinet hinges that I bought took a bit of thought as to how to mount them having never done it before. I opted to test it out on a couple of pieces of scrap before I did it in the "real" CP top. If I were to do it on the actually CP top, then make some horrible miscalculation, I might have to actually buy another complete 4 x 8 sheet to cut another CP top to size. I'd *HATE* to have to do this, so scrap it is. (And, do it multiple times to make sure you have the hang of it too.)
I started with one hinge which turned up some interesting "alignment" issues. For all the adjustment I was able to do with the hinge, I was unable to make the pieces line up the way I want them to. I re-routed holes for the hinge in another section of scrap to see if I could make it work. It looks a lot better and I was able to get rid of one of TWO alignment problems.
I wasn't able to make both alignment issues go away by the time I finished tonight, but I'm open to suggestions on other hinges if you have them.
Tonight's . Be sure to check the captions beneath my pics at Flickr. Almost all of my photos have them.

The caster itself (i.e. the housing and the wheel) are stationary. It's the rubber leveling foot that extends up and down to level and secure the load. The rubber is much like that of a tire, very solid.

Thanks, did not see the lever in any of the pics so of course I was dreaming up some high tech pnuematic system :D

Oh hell. I'd go with the Pneumatic system just for the "coolness" factor. You could have a big red button in a housing that's connected with a tether. "Alright everybody. Just stand back. This'll only take a minute." <queue robotic sounds here>
TeamTEOR:
Hey Guys, I am in Scottsdale and am about to start on my build. I just skimmed though this one, and I am happy to see there are a few people out here building.
Really nice work on the control panel for this build, and I love those castors.
I have the tools to do the build, but very little wood building experience. So I was going to order up a Mameroom Ultimate Arcade II Cabinet Kit. I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but wanted to say hello, and that I would be game to meet up with you guys if you were going to do something together.

I'll probably host something at my place once I get the cabinet done, though, as you can see, life seems to happen when you least expect it.
Make sure you check out the woodworking forum when you come up against questions and problems. DrewKaree's a bit of a character, but he's a real ace when it comes to woodworking. I've taken several of his suggestions there.
Update: October 26, 2006
Like I said, life happens when you least expect it. I destroyed my $75 sheet of Lexan and the $140 printed sheet of vinyl CP artwork, as well as at least a full sheet of MDF. Right after I did all this my ailing Honda Accord *finally* blew out the head gasket. I had to get a new vehicle and although I have a much better ride ('03 Silverado Ext Cab), I'm stuck with a car payment for the first time in probably 4 years.
Progress from here on out may be slow.
