New Wiki page needed: powering up your PC
« on: July 10, 2006, 10:06:21 am »
I'm thinking that there needs to be a page added to the wiki regarding powering up a PC in an arcade cabinet.  There's a guy over on the MAMEWorld PC Hardware/Arcade Cab Tech Support boards asking about it...

http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Number=79594

...I was going to point him at the BYOAC Wiki but after searching, I see that there's not a page on the subject yet.

Can one of the veteran Wiki editors start a skeleton page?  I'll go in and flesh out how I powered my PC in my cab and hopefully, we can get it whipped into shape.

Sorry, I didn't see that there was a separate Wiki discussion board.  My bad.

Moderator, please move this thread.

The way I did is simply use a danish "usb-skinne" (danish page, but with a picutre), that connect to usb and in the power itself. I do not known they exits in USA.

One such of product is on http://www.mobilnet.dk/product.asp?product=39&sub=97&page=1, and the 75kr is about 12$ (but proplety cheaper in USA).

When I power off the machine, it simply power off all connected hardware, wich was used on it!

Just write the wikipage, some us other would simply shine it up.

Yep a product like http://www.bitsltd.net/SmartStrip/index.htm, wich seen to named "SmartStrip" in English is all it want. It most safe/easiest to use.
