I'll have to search for those IZ.
Thanks for the heads up.

look here:

dpadpro will do it for win9x
NTpad XP will work on win2k XP

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the page to come up but thanks for trying.
I did find this in a search however:

http://random64.emuhq.com/doc1/Joy2600-PC_eng.shtml

It's a little closer to what I originally planned.
The site also alluded to input delays when using a parallel interface.
Still it would be nice to fit everything into the base of the stick not to have to use any external components.
On the plus side since I have everything but the 9 pin connectors & the cable, it won't cost much.
 ;)

Here's another link to the same site. Have no idea why the other link doesn't work, it worked when I posted the previous message.

As for delay, I've built parallel port adapters based on the circuits above for sega genesis, snes and psx and never experienced any lag...
Zeitgeist:
Wow,
Is it as easy as that?
From the looks of the diagram, all you need is one 10k ohm resistor & a couple of DB connectors to make a standard Atari 2600 stick (with one button) to work.
This seems to simple.
I just scavenged through some of my old PC/electronics junk boxes & found that I've already got the connectors.
A quick trip to Radioshack for the resistor & I'm in business.
Thanks a bunch!
 ;D

BTW- Have had any bad experinces with any of the adapters Iz?
_Iz-:
Some of them depend on the parallel port being in a specific mode (spp/ecp/epp) so read the directions carefully and make sure the port is set to the required mode in the bios. other than that, no problems whatsoever!

The psx one rocks, just a few diodes and the connector. I hacked a psx extension cable so I can connect unmodifed psx controllers. Got a soft dance pad hooked up for the kiddies right now (I have 4 daughters). It's a huge hit!
