Mala Help - using racing theme - games run sluggish

Hey guys...

I'm using Mala and so far I love it. I have 1 small issue with it. My latest cab is a driving cabinet. I use the steering wheel to navigate around to the different games. What I've noticed is the games run a bit choppy. They run fine in command line without using Mala. What it looks like it's doing is when I'm playing these games, they menu is still active. It's jumping around to all the different games while I'm playing. For example: I'll play a game of super sprint and after the games over, the game selection screen will be on a different game. If I go into a game and turn the steering wheel in 1 direction a few rotations, when I get out of the game I am at the end or beginning of the game list (depending what direction I'm turning.

Is there a way to keep the menu from selecting games when I'm in a game? It seems to be whats causing my slight choppyness.

Thanks!

Does your steering wheel emulate a mouse to use MaLa to select games?

Yes, I used a mouse hack and the steering wheel is the mouse.

OK... I just enabled the mouse as a menu controller in MaLa.  I was able to re-create the problem you have. I also have event sounds enabled on menu movement and so while a game was running and i moved the mouse it would play my 'click' sound I had set for it.

Anyway I guess now you either:
1) Disable the use of mouse for menu switching in MaLa, and use your gearstick or some other controll to select games.
2) Appeal to the all mighty 'SWINDUS' for a change to his code.

Loadman - thanks a ton for confirming the issue and giving me alternatives. Hopefully this can be resolved eventually. I'll give the gearstick a shot and see if it doesn't have the same problem.

Swindus - if your reading this, and you have any suggestions please let me know. I enjoy scrolling through the list using the steering wheel, but not at the cost of the games running pooryly. Thanks for a great front end!
