Hacking arcade Speakers to pc speaker
(1/1)
aricade:
Hi guys,
First post and am a newbian. be gentle with me ;)
I have an arcade cabinet wich I purchased from my local arcade. It came with 2 speaker mounted underneath the marquee area.
I found infor on hacking cheap pc speakers from this site.
So I had an old pair of speakers wich I took apart. soldered the wires back together again and it still works! ;D
So I was wondering Are the speakers that came with my arcade cabinet compatible with the pc speakers? (ie can I replace the dinky speakers with my arcade speakers?)
Is their any advice you guys could offer me on testing and hooking up these arcade speaker to my computer.
Just thought I should check with you guys and do it right the first time!
TIA
Aricade

I did it. I just took the little PC speakers out of the circuit, ran longer wire and hooked it up to the existing arcade speakers. Then I hot glued the volume pot/board inside my CP so I could get to it.

io was able to use my existing speakers in my millipede cab, they are basically nice car speakers, my computer speakers i got from ebay for 40$ are 2 satelite speakers and a nice subwoofer, the sub has wire inputs on the back where you would twist the speake rwire and insert it into the hole for a connection, i just tested the existing (mono) wiring by plugging it into the back ofg the sub, worked great so after looking at the cab speakers and realizing that they are just using the same .187 female quick connects to connect thge speakers, i undid them and made up 2 sets so now my cab is stereo and it BOOMS! the sub can really generate some bass, and games sound awesome!
just lok around for a nice set of speakers that you can use and make sure they are 2watts 8) you should be fine!
