i route the edge of cpo and it went nicely but when i tried to route the hole for trackball.

the flush bit ate through the metal part of mounting kit!!!!! I never knew it could eat metal!! now my cpo AND plastic sheet are ruined! i'll have to get a new copy from mamemarqee.com and buy a new plastic sheet and new trackball mount!!!!!  :censored: :censored: :soapbox:

i will take a pic but will not be able to upload it unil i get back to my apt on tue night or wedesday.

Hi there... sorry to partially hijack this thread, but could you elaborate on the plastic sheet you used to hide the deformities on your CP wood?  I was going to get an overlay from mamemarquees too, but I was afraid my trackball mounting plate imperfections would show through (I ended up not routing it out very level).  How stiff is the mylar?  Where'd you get it etc.  This is exactly what I've been thinking of doing too.

Thx

I was afraid of exactly what happened to bossyman15 with the trackball hole during routing. The problem is the plate is so thin it's too hard to get the router bit bearing to follow it.What I did was use that detachable spacer ring on the happs trackball and temporarily secured it to the bottom side of the trackball mounting plate so there was a thicker edge for the router bit bearing to ride on.I just completed my 2nd cp with this method it it's worked well for me on both.

Ahhh good tip!

See because I now have to get new plastic sheet as well but because my trackball part are already cut out on my wood so no more circle as a guide for routing but with that tip I wil be able to do that (I hope).

Just a quick question... How do you attach that spacer to bottom of mount?
