Powermame 105.0.1: Mouse controls not working right??
« on: April 15, 2006, 06:49:58 pm »
I just installed powermame 105.0.1 from Mikes site.  Granted, I did not update my roms, nor check them through Romcenter, but I do know I have the full .104 set.

I installed 105, and tried to play Super Sprint.  I had no steering with my spinner.  I also had no steering with my mouse.  I quit, loaded Super Off-Road, and I got the same, no steering.  Thats weird.....these just worked with powermame 104........

I reverted back to powermame 104, and both games worked like a charm.

I did not try any other mouse based games, and I probably shoulda.....but I am leaving for the evening, and I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Anyone else see this with 105?

You don't describe your setup so I assume this is your problem.  I don't know how Derrick does it, I think I've seen him exlpain this no less then 10 times in the past couple weeks.  I'll paste some of his comments below.

Each mouse is now considered an individual control.  If you have multiple mice, you need to map your mice in the player controls menu or use a ctrlr file.  Think of mice as now being like joysticks. If you have 2 joysticks connected to your computer, you would not expect both to be automatically mapped to player 1. The same is now true with mice.

And you don't need to set it up for every game. Even without using the ctrlr files, you can just set up the defalut player controls for all games in the MAME menu.

Same thing happened to me this past week when messing around with version 105.  All the oice numbers are different now, so you just need to remap your controls.
