I've read about some HDTV's with an XGA input that allows them to work as a PC monitor without a TV-out card.

Has anyone tried one?  The specs on the Zenith model that I was reading about make it sound like the picture quality would be much less than a standard PC monitor.

We used an 'HDTV' ready RCA 36" with VGA inputs for MAME. It had a max resolution of 800x600 through the VGA input though.  The games looked great.  There are no scanlines, but it was certainly easy to hook up.
As far as quality, at 800x600 windows text was perfectly clear, colors were good, and you could clearly see MAME's RGB pixel effects if you turned on that option.
