It is possible to use this software to use 2 mice independently in XP. I downloaded it and it works within the app.
Now if we can find someone to make it work with Mame....
Calling URebelScum!!!
I wish I had a winXP box to test it on.
Besides that, you don't
need that development library. The library probably makes it easier, but AFAIK, there is a way to see the mice (& lightguns) as separate devices in winXP without it, but... It uses a new, winXP exclusive, win32 api set of function based on the new RAWMOUSE (look it up in
http://www.microsoft.com, direct links change too fast), sort of like the special library.
Either way, though, a second (third, technically) way will need to be added to mame to get the mouse data that will only work on winXP computers.
If someone would send me a, oh, 2 GHz computer with winXP installed, I'll gladly try me best to add the multiple lightgun support using the RAWMOUSE api.
I'm doubt I'm going to get a new computer before 6 months, and I'm not going to buy a new OS until then, sorry.
Right now, I'm trying to find an directX way to read the lightgun data instead of the win32 api way mame is currently using. If I find one, then winME/98 users will get the multiple lightguns instead of winXP users.
