MYX:
Hey all,
I am on the verge of purchasing all my pushbuttons m leds n stuff.
On the non game side can anyone think of anything else that would be really helpful on the CP? I will have a small set of buttins under the hood for snapshots n framerate n stuff.

Player 1
Player 2
coin drop
Tab
Esc.
Enter

My previous CP had far too many buttons for extra control so I am trying to make this one a little cleaner.
MYX:
Pause
DeLong20:
You prob. already know this but, you could use the shift option to esc, load, ect.  that way you can eliminate three more buttons.  It is just a little harder to explain how your cab works to others.

Hitting P1 Start and P2 Start at the same time to quit is easy enough for most people to grasp.

Tab, Enter, and whatnot should never be used by anyone other than you, regular users would never need those, and I'd never want one of my friends to get into the menus and wreak havok on my setup.  Keep those as shift keys.

If you have a coin door, I'd suggest wiring those up, I'm in love with my token-or-quarters-only setup, I used to have a shift key for credits but I actually deprogrammed that to give it a better feel.

I think the only button I'd actually dedicate would be a PAUSE button, it's just too useful when people need to go grab a beer or something... sure, I know how to use the shift function for that one, but it's a little complicated for most people.

I initially installed one credit button right next to P1 Start and another next to P2 Start. I later installed a coin door and disconnected the credit buttons -- they've been dormant for years now. I regret ever installing them. Coin credits are the only way to go. There's really no need for credit buttons at all.

That said, with console emulators, I usually map "Select" to the credit buttons. So now, a coin drop is required to press "Select". I guess I could use a shifted function for that.

I still use the Pause button, and I have a dedicated Escape button I use too. Those are the only two admin buttons that I have. Pause is ideal for wife, beer, phone, bathroom, etc.
