Excuse my ignorance, I'm new at this.  How do you reference the pics loaded here in other posts?  Upload, snag the URL, then <image> tag embedded in the post?

Basically.

If you want, you can use something like imageshack and then link the pics here, but that's a multi-step/multi-site process.
OR you can attach the pics when you make your post here, but they end up being at the very end of your post.
SO, you attach your pics here, then copy the pic location and embed them into your posts elsewhere on the forum using the <img></img> tags.
