| Hacking USB powered speakers to be Non-USB powered |

Hello, I just bought a set of the cheapie Benwin USB powered speakers to use for their amp. Now, I am short on USB ports, so what I would like to do is hack the power to accept a normal wall-wart style power. What is the voltage that USB supplies? I *should* be able to just find a DC adapter that supplies ~ the same voltage and tap it in, correct? Thanks in advance! ED7 |

Ahh..so it should be very easy...plenty of 5V DC power supplies lying around...any reason I shouldn't do this? |

Would a self powered USB hub not be easier? Give you more ports as well as running the speakers? you can get them quite cheap on ebay or a local computer store |

Yea that might be easier....believe it or not, I never really thought of that! :-\ |
