Link to cleanup page
« on: March 13, 2006, 09:03:47 am »
I had in interest in cleaning up a page, and in just hitting a link in the cleanup notice, I found the page that lists ALL the pages marked for cleanup.  There's literally NO WAY I'd know where to begin to start looking for this page

Any way to replace "random page" on the main page with a link to "cleanup page", or just add the link?  (I ask for the replacing because "random page" doesn't seem particularly useful).  I think this way, others like myself may hit those pages to get them into shape and remove the tags when they have a free moment and feel motivated to fix something

My suggestion is to move the link to the toolbox (the box where the "upload file" is).

Here is another idea: perhaps link it to a "things to do" page, that page then could have a link to the cleanup pages. On the 'todo' page people can add stuff like "we need more examples of arcade remakes on page 'simulators and remakes'". If you're looking for things to do, a page like that might be a good start.

I can take that one further. I can create a bot that looks for all usages of a cleanup and delete template, and have it auto update that index page.

I'd rather not have to start hacking at the theme any more than I have to at this point. The toolbox link requires that I modify the wiki software to do so.

That sounds like it'd work, but how would I go about utilizing it?  Is there some place I go to check that bot or how would that work?

No, I have to code it. But, there is a framework to be able to create it pretty easily.
