Keyboard not generating key presses after being held down

Sorry if this has been asked many times, but I read through the FAQ and searched online for this but I have not yet found an answer.

I just put together my cabinet, and I am using an X-arcade as the controller, but when playing games that require you to hold down a direction or when scrolling through a list of ROMS, after a certain time, it stops responding to the key.  It appears that after a while, the OS is not reading the keys or something.  It seems to be system wide issue because it happens if I try it under notepad or something else, and it happens with the keyboard and the X-arcade...

I am wondering if there is a registry setting or something I can do to stop this behavior... I'm running windows XP...

Thanks...

I have the same problem too... a particular pain when holding down the accelerator on racing games.

Does ANYONE have a solution?

Havok:

Perhaps it is related to the keyboard repeat\delay? See if changing the settings for your keyboard help. (Control Panel, Keyboard)

Most likely it is related to a debounce setting for the X-arcade controller, though. I would contact them for support:

It happens whether using a keyboard or the X-arcade.

I asked X Gaming.. heres their reply.
Doesnt make much sense to me though..

Are you using the Y-Mouse USB adapter? If so:
The Y-Mouse USB adapter by default does not keep holding a button/keyboard key, it will stop holding it after a few seconds. You may simply need to change the mode of the Y-Mouse adapter to fix this. To do this, simply open a word editor like notepad, and on the keyboard that is plugged into the back of the X-Arcade (or into the adapter directly) hold the ESC (Escape) key and press the "F" key. If done correctly it will type the version number of the Y-Mouse adapter into the word editor. This will fix your problem, so the buttons/keys will keep held.

If you are using any other USB adapter: http://www.xgaming.com/service/joy-support.shtml#USB
"NOTE: The only USB adapter that will work properly with the X-Arcade™ is the one that was made for it, a standard PS/2-USB adapter will not work."
