My cab is sometimes on the home network.  It has a network card in it and has its own cable that plugs into the wall jack.  I only plug it into the network when I want to update roms, add mp3's or change something.  Afterwards I disconnect it.  I don't use any firewall or AV software on the cab.  I can't see the point.  Nothing can get to the cab when it isn't connected.

Yes I have thought about that but it is so much easier to use a wireless nic.  No cables.  And I have heard that an unpatched xp system can become infected in the time it takes you to download sp2.  I'm no network guy but...seems like if I'm behind a firewal I'm OK unless I download or install the offending program?  Any network admins out there?

None at all.... My cab machine never gets connected to anything and all disks that go anywhere near it get a virus scan before they do... So none needed.
