Just for anyone following this thread, sitting on the edge of their seats .... I got the game working.

Well, actually a nice guy who frequents the KLOV boards fixed my board for me, turns out there was a bad chip.  So now it works!  Except two of the 4  fire buttons on the steering wheel aren't working, i discussed it on the buy/sell board, but in any event, it's definately playable and it's just great to finally have a working game.  Thanks to everyone who has given me advice and helped me this past month, i really appreciate it.

Excellent...congrats!!   did it cost you much(shipping to canada and all)?

which buttons aren't working and what style control is it(metal, plastic). I have a few exta buttons around for them.
I find that i only use the same 2 buttons anyway. Right trigger for firing and right thumb when using the special weapons as they come along. Just habit that way.

Well, i'll break it down.  The game itself was 50 bucks, a new marquee was 30 :(  I put some chrome t-molding on it from t-molding.com for 15.00, shipping for the board to Canada each way was around 20.00 total....new light 3.00...plus I am giving the guy in Canada a little bit for supplies and his trouble, so all in all i'd say roughly $140.00 total.

Thank you for keeping me in mind about the buttons, they are the plastic ones on the plastic part of the steering wheel.  The two on the right work, the two on the left do not on mine.  I think it's a little coincidental that both left ones are out, so i'm going to do a little more tweaking tonight to see if it's a switch issue, or a wiring issue or what, thanks to some advice from people on this board.  I actually only use the right ones too...but I want a FULLY functional game, you know how it is :)  If i can't get it working I might take you up on your offer for a few buttons.  I'll let you know.  Thanks again.

Awesome that the game is working  :D

The switch thing sounds like it could be a broken ground wire. It seems odd that both the switches on one side are bad.

Anyway, enjoy the game and get some more System 1 kits for it.

Here's a few quick pics of the game.  I took a look at the switches, the are worn.  I couldn't get them reworked to operate correctly.  The reason they are both on the left side is because the previous owner moved the 2 working ones to the same side to make the game more playable.  So...if anyone has extra switches, i need two....pics of those are in the buy/sell/trade thread, i don't want to double post those here as well.

Try a top-down photo, so the camera focuses closer to the switches rather than the wall behind them.  ;)

Now that you have your RoadBlasters working, you will need to get the Marble Madness cartridge, control panel and marquee, the Indiana Jones cart, panel and marquee, and the RoadRunner cart, panel and marquee!

Bitten by the cabinet bug... obsessing ever since.

haha, yeah, i have a feeling this is just the start.  Oh well, one thing at a time, i just want to get my RB 100% working first.  I've never been a fan of marble madness and i have never seen or played the other games, so i'm not sure how actively i'll be pursuing these other kits, unless one just happens to fall in my lap.

I never posted in this thread before, but I was watching it.  It was a very good informative read.  I'm glad you got it back up and going, and for one hell of a good price to I think.  Have fun with it.  I wonder if you can still win the roadblasters t-shirt.  lol

LOL, who knows.  I can only get to level 42 right now.  I can't beat level 50 to get the 'secret code' needed for the T-Shirt.  If i ever did, I might just mail it out just for giggles and see what happens.  ;)

They have a 1-800 phone number on the front of my Police Force pinball you can call to order a police force hat.  Well I tried to call it and now the number is a singles hotline lol....so who knows how this T-shirt thing might turn out.

No, I am stuck on that darn level 42!  You barely get any fuel to start the race, and i always run out....very frustrating :)  But it's a good challenge...if I won the game right away, i'd never play it again, so this keeps me coming back for more.

wow....this was one of the most fascinating threads I read in a long time...great news on getting it up and running.

A friend and I once spend hours (literally) playing this game switching off everytime we got killed...I don't remember what level we made it to, but we both went through at least 10 bucks that night.

ahh to be 17 again...  :dizzy:
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

Great to hear you got it up and running..I one that I picked up a few months ago that I have a sound problem with (left channel is dead) but I cant say that I have really looked at it.  If you fail to find the switches you need I do have a system 1 rb kit that I can pull a switch or two for you but they are the large button type. Im not sure if they are the same microswitch.

Thank you for the offer CW...i have a transaction potentially in the works for a few of these switches, but if it falls through, i'll keep you in mind.  Thanks for the offer.  If i can be of any help as you go about fixing yours, let me know.  I can supply pics or whatever if needed...i don't have alot of technical expertise though.
