Is there a way to mute the sound during gameplay? I want to be able to have my jukebox playing in the backgraound while I am playing a game and not be bothered by the game sounds. I would like to be able to assign a cabinet button to mute the gameplay sound; using AHK or any other method. I am curently using the DOS version of MAME v0.102 Thanks in advance. |

You could always just turn the volume down in MAME... I don't think there's a specific MUTE function. |

Thanks for the quick response "brownshow". I have messed with the volume in MAME, but I have noticed that even with the volume turned all the way down you can still hear some sound, but more importantly using the volume is not a 1 button solution which is what I am looking for. I have experimented with the ArcadeFX front end and I have noticed that you can turn the sound off completely using the admin controls and this only mutes MAME and not my juke box. This is what I am looking for, but I would prefer to be able to activate the mute feature from within an active game with a single button. An acceptable solution would be to activate mute with a single button from within the front end. Since ArcadeFx is able to mute MAME I am sure that this function can be applied to other front ends as well. By the way, if anyone is interested, I can post a simple AHK script that I wrote which will allow you to assign a single button that will switch between your jukebox program and your currently active game or if a game is not active between your jukebox program and your front end. |

Nice, thanks for posting the solution you're using. |

Or you know, you could just turn your speakers off like a normal person. :) |
