Is 78" too tall?
SlyDog:
This is just another "relative" question. for me this would be a nice cabinet but i am 6'7. i am sure if you are under 6 ft then this is just way too large. The main concern is can you fit through a doorway, and if not can it be easily taken apart. If it will be too hard to move then go shorter, i guarantee you will kick yourself later when you can't move it either because you sold it, made a new one you like better, or just plain ole move to another house.
If you already have the plans set up for it I don't see a reason to change them. The bigger it is the wider your friends eyes will be when they come over for poker night.
Luckydevil:
My CPS2 cab is 82.5" tall not including the extra two inches the casters add. It is pretty damn tall, but I like it that way.
Flinkly:
i built my neo geo mock cab 12 percent larger, which brought it to 78 inches. it is tall, and i've got to tilt it back to get it through doorways, but it's perfect for me. it is taller than most arcade cabinets, but like it was mentioned before, i find the marquee and relative height of a regular cab to be too short. the width i dind't make proportionally larger, and if you look at it from the side, it is kinda large, but i don't think i'm gonna stand and look at it much, mostly from the side, since i'll be playing it instead.
M3talhead:
Why not build the cab to "normal" dimensions (about 6ft). If you're not completely satisfied, make a base for to raise it up a few more inches.
Flinkly:
cp height would change dramatically with a riser built afterwards, if you scale it up, the cp won't move up quite as far. and you'd have an odd riser box under your cab, which would look like an afterthought.
