Nice idea. But I think they should also get rid of the eighth button so that each player has a Hotrod style button layout. The extra button just doesn't look right IMHO and I can't think of any game that would need it.

PlayStation, PlayStation2, X-Box, and other consoles.  Unlike HotRod, the X-Arcade is multi-platform and the button are layed out that way.  (Also there's the emus for those systems, real & imaginary.)

Note that I don't have an X-Arcade, and heard enough stuff about it that I'm not planning on buy one.  But we have to think "outside the box", err, remember there are other things besides mame. ;D

I am hoping I can use buttons 7-8 along with trackball. I am curious about how I can get it to work out but I would like to use the trackball like a mouse so I dont have to open drawer to launch other emus and such.  That is just a mock up like image im curious to see what its gonna look like but I called dhl tonight and wont be here till monday now so.........Ill be around next week to write my review.
Necro:
Just looking at my x-arcade, it's def. wider if that picture is to scale and all.  My player one buttons are directly over my player 1 3rd button row.

Just FYI for people asking.

True. But I can't think of any console arcade style games that require all 8 buttons.

If the rationale behind the eighth button was to provide a diamond shaped button pattern then I think it would have been better to have arranged the 6 main buttons in a modern curved Japanese style.
