I've had a couple of suprsies....  say playing puzzule booble which reveals an inapropriate image upon solving the level.

How do you identify these roms and get them out of your rom set?

I like mame and arcade for nostalgic purposes.  I want to share them with family and friends, and I don't want to be embarassed by someone, whom I have over as a guest, chooses a game which shows horrible 70's nude images during play.  There's a time and a place for that sort of thing, and it's not in my FAMILY room.  It wouldn't even be different if they had chosen images hot women, instead of hairy terrible aweful 70's exposure.

Anything marked mature

There are utilities out there like SortInfo to filter out mature.  Many frontends do this too.

Thanks for the info!

I wanted to know this for the exact opposite reason.  I want my kid to learn about the birds and bees the same way I did...grainy pictures of hairy ladies.

If all goes well, and he finds the right games, I can avoid the talk altogether!

Use the MAME Content Manager. It will edit out what you don't want, and it's easy to implement.
