Changing from 4 to 8 way takes about 2 seconds and involves no taking apart of anything. I went with x-arcade because it was a "complete" setup. They provided everything (except carriage bolts for the joystick). --- End quote --- Would it be somewhat easy to replace the sticks in the X Arcade w/ something like the Magstik Plus? I've had an X-Arcade controller for quite some time. I'm in the process of building my first cabinet in which I will build my own control panel. However, in the meantime, I'd like a much better feel for 4-Way games then with the controllers that come stock w/ the X-Arcade. As some have already mentioned, it is HORRIBLE for 4-way games, even when you change the stock joystick to make it "4-way". Thanks! |

| MameMaster!:
I have to say honestly I've been actually really happy with my XArcade stuff. They are great to work with and quick to help solve problems. I do admit though....that overtime as I got more comfortable with wiring, wood work etc. I have made some extensive mods to them in that really only the case and PCB is original on mine. The advantage is they're great for beginners to open up and easily mod if you want to. if you don't I still believe they're great joysticks for the price and quality. The micros are loud but it doesn't mean a thing when you're in the heat of battle! The main advantage and the primary reason I bought my first XArcade was the cross platform plug/play of the product. You can't beat it. To play my dreamcast using the stick is fantastic. Unless you do a controller hack you can't do that with ANY other plug/play stick. Also, it's super easy to program for any emulator or PC game that needs remapping (when it's not supported by the game itself). You won't go wrong giving it a try. At min, the case is super solid and would make a great case to mod. The USB adapter is a problem that they're trying to fix. I'm going to temporarily use my keyboard again until they have a fix which is in the works. I hope that help!-- and oh yeah, go visit--- Retroblast for the Arcade Joystick round up-- http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/controller1.html It may help you make your final decision. |

I am building a new cp, but I am able to use the old cp that I drilled holes for the x-arcade. I found the x-arcade 4 way to be fine. Overall, I didn't like the long throw and the clickyness was a little too loud for me. |
