We have raided our personal stock to get parts for about 6 more before we are totally, for sure, out of boards. We are in the process of ordering some more boards, but it will probably take 2-4 weeks to get them in.

If anyone needs some for Christmas projects, etc. you'd better get them now...first come first served

I bought 2 of these for my crystal castles track ball. Unfortunately the game still doesn't move right so it seems the issue is on the game board. BUT the boards came in about a week, Mike stayed in full contact through out the transaction, and the boards came well packed nice and clean! I just won a SegaSonic arcade board, so if I buy used trackballs (which I probably will) then I will definately come back here if I need new optics!

Good News:

I Just wanted to let everyone know that we got a new shipment of boards and parts in recently, so we have stock for the foreseeable future.

Bad News:

Since our costs are creeping up on all of the parts and pieces, we are unfortunately going to have to bump the price of each board up by $2 to cover our time and materials.

Hopefully everyone will understand and continue to consider our boards a reasonable value for the quality and service we try to deliver. We really hate to have to charge more, but it seems like the price of everything from copper, to gas, to shipping has gone up since we started offering these boards, just over 2 years ago now.

We will still offer good deals for quantity orders since this eliminates labor, packaging and trips to the post office, so don't hesitate to ask about a discount if you need 4 or more boards at once.

Hey Gents:

Got my Arkanoid PCB optical board (model #1) in the mail last week. The board came promptly after ordering and it works like a champ; I drilled a few holes in it to mount and interfaced it with my Optipac.

Could someone explain how these work? Do you plug the header from the trackball into this board? Then this board interfaces with the computer somehow? Is that correct?

Our boards just take the motion of the trackball, spinner, etc. wheel and turn it into electrical pulses. To turn that into onscreen movement you will need some kind of interface board between our board and the computer, such as an optipac (ultimarc), an optiwiz (groovy game gear), or even a hacked mouse board (homemade).

Our board goes inside the trackball/spinner/steering wheel to replace the original optical boards if they are broken, etc. You still need another board between ours and the PC to turn it into mouse movement.

Any answer for this? There are a couple different steering wheels which use this sort of encoder...

I need to replace one of my Happ 2-1/4" arcade trackball optic board (see picture below).

If your "Style #4" green PCB will allow me to drop it into my Happ trackball then I would like to buy one. I am a little concerns why my green PCB has some resistors on it and an additional chip on the board. Are you sure your green Style 4 should fit my trackball?

Did you hear anything back regarding this? I'm having an issue as well with my Happ 3" trackball's Y-axis. Here are my 2 boards. No sure which one I need to replace though.

Swap the molex connector from each board and if the problem and see if the problem stays with the Y-axis. If so, then you might have a bad Y-Axis board.

My personal problem was that I originally connected my Happ trackball to hacked USB mouse in order to attach it to my PC. Something was wrong with the mouse hack which I never could find and something was wrong with my USB Hub the mouse (thus trackball) was connected to. Basically, I had two problems in one which was really throwing me off when I was looking for a reason of it failing. Anyway, I ended up spending about $50 at GroovyGameGear and bought an OptiWiz, trackball wiring harness and mouse pushbutton wiring harness. I was just too tired of spending countless hours trying to debug and solder stuff anymore.

Thanks unclet. I did tried the molex swap and the problem did remain with the Y-axis.

Which one is the Y-axis board? Is it the big one or the small one?

My two boards are identical so I do not know anything based on size.

Actually, now that I think about it, swapping the molex plugs and still seeing the problem on the Y-axis means it is not a specific board problem but something else. If you swap the boards and the problem swaps to the X-axis then it would indicate the problem would be with that one board. however, since you problem stays on the Y-axis, then something else must be causing the problem.

What are you using to connect your mouse to the PC?

We are unfortunately out of boards right now. We are in the process of trying to get some more made. I will post on the message board when/if we are able to get some more in stock. Sorry about that, we will try hard to get some more in if the price is reasonable.

Unfortunately we are all out of boards at this point. With the cost of ordering more boards, trouble locating the right optics and lack of demand lately I don't think we'll be able to offer these anymore unless something changes. I hate to say it because I know how hard it is to locate the right part some times. Thanks to everyone who purchased from us over the past five years! If anyone else out there knows of a good replacement please let these guys know where to find them.
