Resistors & 22 gauge Wire - Where To Buy?
cholin:
NOOOO go for ebay!
Actually, seriously, some good wire is cat5e. I use the wire from the inside of that (bought 1k feet for new house) so I got alot left over....
Resistors, buying them individually is a few cents, depends how much, probably from 1-4 cents US each. eBay owns for resistors.

Radio Shack tends to only carry "variety packs" now. I got my resistors in a 20 pack. It came with 5 each of 4 ratings.
brophog:
That aint no kidding. Spade connectors are the worse.

Roughy, do you mean one 5w led shining up to light all of the buttons at once or one 5w led for each button? I am asking because a single 5w (watt) led does generate a bit of heat and should be heatsinked. The one 5w led also looks like a miniature searchlight when lit. I would start with a 1k resistor and then work your way down to lower value resistors until you achieve the brightness you are looking for. Most likely you only have 1/2watt or smaller (how big around) resistors, so only test them briefly. Once you find the right value, get a 5w resistor or use five 1w resistors in parallel that are 5x the needed resistance.

We've got some 5e lying around... But I wired cat 6 in my house. heh... Since I'm working on the basement and rec room areas now, I can't really use that stuff upfront, but it may make sense later!
