Rubber Strip

RayB:

Dominatrix stripper jokes aside, I am looking for a strip of rubber I could use between my control panel and glass.

Where would one find a strip of rubber (22" long)? And what dept would something like that be in?

I realize I could just use rubber "feet" but then quarters placed on the glass would fall through.

Thanks.

Kremmit:

Cut up a bike innertube?

Weather stripping?

Caulk?

RayB:

Weather stripping might be what I need.

Necro:

Check out the large format 'poster' frames they sell.  You could stick one of the sides there and it would be U shaped, and could hold quarders perfectly, and they couldnt really 'slide down' or slip or anything.

Basically a poster frame.

They're made of hard plast I think though.

LiquidFire:

I have found that if you visit a gasket-making company 'in person' you can score some scraps of rubber for free, but make sure you throw some beer money at the guy that helped you.

They have all thicknesses of hard and soft rubber materials including cork in the form of 'garbage' that comes off the dies. They keep and recycle it.

If you go with the weather strip, try to find a quality thin 'closed cell' type of neoprene to minimize compression and bleeding of the seal. A trailer or professional truck supply is the best bet-not a home store.
