Golden tee question
« on: January 03, 2006, 04:49:12 pm »
If the roms were "legal" to use for any of the Golden Tee Fore boards (2000-2005), would they be playable with our current machines or require more processing power as most games with Hard drive images do?

all the golden tees have been emulated if I remember correctly.  But they havent been released because IT is still making money on them.

I think it would depend on just how different the FORE boards are compared to 97-2k.  GT 97 to 2k run fine, so if there are similar technologies behind the newer games, they'd probably play just fine.

If they are totally different architectures... who knows.  I've never played a real GT FORE game, so I have no idea how similar/different they are.
first off your and idiot

They will probably require plenty of horsepower, but shouldn't need more computer than Area51 or Shuffle Shot.

BTW, IT retired GoldenTee Fore this past year so MAME versions of the FORE games should be out sometime this year.  But that's just a guess on my part.

Didn't they just release Golden Tee Complete which is all 20 some courses from all the "Fore" boards? This could delay the Mame release right?

quite possibly... it's really up to the Mame Devs

Golden Tee has been in Mame for a while now.  Just not the new hardware.

I think it will be quite awhile before we see the GT Fore's in MAME.  Heck  GT97 thru GT2K didn't get released til this year.

I have a Golden Tee 2K cab which i have converted to Mame (keeping the original trackball) the question i have is, is it possible to control the scrolling LED marquee with the PC, i have searched the net and this forum without success  :(

I love playing the GT 2K on the cab, and its just the same as when i have the jamma board in it.

Get a hold of Silver.  He has a great program for LCD's and Beta Brites.  Also do a search on beta brite.  That should point you in the right direction.

I'm sure everyone would love to see GT Fore added to MAME but if I am correct the unofficial policy would be at least 2 years after the game was published (or quit being made....I can't remember which) or after it was no longer a producing revenue stream for the maker.  In the case of GT Fore, all the games (2002-2005) are virtually the same except for different courses so it would seem the the earliest release would be 2007 sometime, correct?  That may be hopeful considering Incred. Tech.'s strong position in the market.  Anyway, just my opinion but as mentioned before, it's all up top the MAMEDevs!

The only option is eBay I believe.  You can locate additional courses via a P2P network.
