Don't know how to take this
spocktwin:
:o Always gives me a warm feeling when I see people who have that "Whats the babe doing with the old fart?" look on their faces. I want to say "Having the time of my life" We have been married for 10 years and I can honestly say each year gets better, she is a great wife and mother and is one hell of an executive vice-president at the firm she is with. And hey she doesn't really think alot of this hobby but she likes the idea that I'm home with her and the kids and not out in the bars as some of my peers still do constantly.
Stingray:
Kids are much easier to make than arcade machines. Kill her and start fresh.

RandyT:
Don't you let her get away with that!
You should have responded with something to the effect of "...at least I'm not hitting on your friends", which might be really inappropriate depending on her age so use your own discretion there.
Probably make her think twice about questioning how you spend your free time again :)
The folks here are not sad or pathetic (like the ones in the "lint that looks like politicians" collectors forums.) We're people who have harbored a dream since our childhoods, and now that we are adults, can use the knowledge and abilities that we have gained since then to make it a reality. More kids nowadays should have something like this to look forward to when they get to our age.
On another note, one of my 2 daughters and her husband are about to give me the ultimate joy/ death blow to my youth...a first grandchild. I'm only 40!! (I'm not old,I'm not old,I'm not old,I'm not old,I'm not old,I'm not old....)

Congrats RandyT -- no you're not old, you're just advanced for your age (which is a mere 3 years greater than mine) !
My 5YO son loves browsing the forums with me, along with eBay and KLOV ... he loves looking at cabinets and projects ("Can we get one of those, it would be so cool!"). If only he liked Asteroids so I didn't have to play so much Sports Jam and King Of Fighters.
My 5YO daughter doesn't have the same enthusiasm, but will play the occasional game of Bust-A-Move.
My 3YO son likes coin doors ... a lot ... I'm currently missing a number of mechs.
Cheers.
ginno:
Im 24, so old enough to know better, young enough to do it again....
One observation I have made is it seems everyone is married. Which i find interesting as you always get the idea the nerds that hang around arcades when they are young are never going to get a girlfriend. These boards have proven me wrong.
Cheers oldies and youngans.
