BYOAC T-shirts
« on: January 26, 2003, 12:57:56 pm »
How come there aren't any BYOAC T-shirts for sale? Every other big fan site has them, I'd order one.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

Here is the "unofficial" BYOAC t-shirt.  It would be official if Saint just concurred with his approval.  ;D

That's cool, but it doesn't mention the website address.  I think an 80s look would be cool(like the button your fly t-shirts):

build
your
OWN
arcade
controls

'arcadecontrols.com' (on back)

heh - j/k

if saint was looking for a meager revenue stream (without hassle) he could authorize someone to make a byoac design and setup a cafepress store...

or anyone of us could design ashirt, and open a cafepres store but not add any profit to it.. (which wouldn't be hard as the cafepress stuff is ridiculously expensive... but they're dynamicly made stuff in 1-off quantities...)

*shrug* know what I'm saying?

I made a shirt of my own using a plain white Hanes T-shirt, some printable iron-on transfers and Photoimpact.
On the front, I just had a large Atari symbol with the word Atari underneath. On the back, kinda near the top I had a smaller Atari symbol with 'Old Skool' underneath it. Works pretty good if you can't find what you are looking for. Just be sure to have a VERY hot iron cuz I ruined a few perfect new shirts not having enough heat on them. This method is great cuz you can make anything you want to pay respect for those great systems we love so much. My shirt sparked a HUGE conversation at work when people saw it. Lots of fond memories started flowing around.

Sue? No way I'm ordering a shirt.

So does anyone have any suggestions for graphics for a proposed shirt? If we get anything screenprinted cost goes up with each different color. We can do the iron on ink jet printer thing but those look lame unless you keep them simple. I did a paintball shirt once with different colored and sized paintball splats all over it and it was sweet looking, It didn't look homemade.

yeah..... BYOAC hooded sweatshirt !!!...

I'll be interested in one.... heee heee....   ;D

well.... I'll need some cool designs on that please...

profits are allowed... but plz keep price reasonable.... plz...

I think I'll get a t-shirt... and a hooded sweater.... yeah...

and part of the profit needs to go back to help this website's operation.....

you should have decent profit selling t-shirt for like $10 - 15...

hooded sweater.... well... that.. I donno...

but I would like the shirt/sweater to be able to machine washed and dry and not shrink to barbie size in a few wash like some cheapy stuffs....

my $0.00002.....   ;)   ;D   ;)   ;D

can't wait !!!....

ps: are we allow to throw in some age old arcade artworks bits and pieces ??.... any copyright ??...  ???
Another Brilliant mind ruined by education....  :p

Hey guys I have actually been thinking about setting up a Cafepress shop for Mame or BYOAC stuff.  I would totally love to head this thing up.

The #1 only downfall about the stuff on Cafepress is that almost all the clothing is available only in one color....white.  Well it's sort of an off-white color I guess.  But still that sucks.  There is actually one store I found on there that offered black t-shirts.  I setup my own shop and looked through all the available products but couldn't for the life of me figure out how they were selling black t-shirts on that other site.  Check out the site here: http://www.cafeshops.com/realninja.  On the left side of the page you can click on the black t-shirt to buy the black one.  Anyways, if anyone has figured out how to offer other colored t-shirts on cafepress, let us know.

Anyways, I love to head up this project.  I am very good at graphic design and skilled in photoshop etc.

What do you guys think?  I would definately be opened to design suggestions.

I have already gotten permission and will be selling MAME logoed items as soon as HowardC is done with the logo.

Also BYOAC logoed items will probably happen soon too. saint is thinking about it.

I have designs for both mame and byoac waiting in the wings.  The byoac needs more work though as it's hard to sum up an arcade related site without using any commercial characters.

The mame logo designs are rather tasteful though, they are basically the outline of the default mame logo with various textures, patterns and 3d effects applied to it.

Once I get them cleaned up I will post some pics.

According to mame's eula those shirts have to be non-profit, but I think in the case of byoac t-shirt some of the proceeds should go towards maintaining the site.  (Bandwith ain't free ya know)

So convince saint and we'll get the green light.  Also something of note is the system we will use will allow an unlimited number of designs to choose from, so if you think you've got a better design we can simply post it and people can buy it if they want.

How about the arcade-style fonts?

You could also contact the authors of Robby Roto and Gridlee for permission to use their characters or art... they're not "classic" characters, but they'll look old-school and pixellated enough to convey the feeling of early-80's arcade games...
