[TAB] = black configuration menu ?

I have my cabinet up and running. I fired up Robotron, everything looks great. I went into the game config menu by pressing [TAB] and all I get is a nice black square in the middle of the display. The menu is there, but I can't see it.  Any ideas? If I hit the up and down arrows and press enter the next menu comes up (a larger black square), it's all black. The games are displaying & playing just fine.

Strangely enough, this is ONLY happening when I run Robotron  :'(
