Perjury, obstruction of justice, making false statements.  All felonies.

Rove is still in the oven. He's under continued investigation.

Happy day for justice, sad day for America.

If he's guilty, then good for him.

But who told everyone that Valerie Plame was in the CIA?

It's in the indictment: "Official A"

Given that Rove is still under investigation, and was widely known to be Novak's source, it's fairly safe to bet the at this point the likely suspect is Rove. Now, whether he got the info from someone else remains to be seen.

Oh, Official A.  Of course.

Rove is official A is widely known by whom?  Media?  Dems?  Libs?  Sorry, I repeat myself.   ;D

I don't profess to know as much as Santoro about all this stuff, but where's the beef?

Rove's own lawyer, Robert "Gold Bars" Luskin, confirmed that Rove spoke with Novak.

If this is the case, why wasn't Rove indicted?

I was under the impression it was OK to lie to a grand jury.  Or is that only if you are a democrat?

You know, I listen to Rush Limbaugh in spurts.  Lately I've been listening.  It's disappointing to me that really all he does is draws parallels to how Clinton got away with things, and Bush can't.

This bothers me.  As much as I think Mr C stinks for running against bush all the time (it's too late, he won), I hate it just as much as when Limbo harps on Clinton.

Enough already.  Let's hear why Bush is right (he is), and be done with it.

So, Mr C, you're trading card was appropriate.

Other than that, you stink   ;D

You could have picked a better thread to harp on me about this. I don't even mention Bush *once*, and I didn't START the thread either.   :P

Are you insinuating that he should be indicted for perjury & obstruction like Libby?

The funny part about it is that he is not facing charges for actually DOING anything.
He's facing charges for LYING about it.

If he'd just said "Yep, it was me" and resigned, he likely wouldn't have faced any charges at all.

I hope it was Rove and they can prove it.  I'll be disappointed if it they can't make a case, or if it turns out to be anyone else.  Well...unless it was Bush himself.  That would be hillarious.

If he'd just said "Yep, it was me" and resigned, he likely wouldn't have faced any charges at all.

That is not true. In fact, Fitzgerald said quite the opposite in his 1hr 20min press conference.

- He stated that Valerie Plame was absolutely under-cover, hence her status was secret (1). Outing her would most likely be a violation of the espionage act.
- He stated that her outing was a huge blow to national security, and negatively impacts the work of the C.I.A., as well as future recruitment, since the protection of their status appears to be political fodder.
- He also stated that Libby's obstruction was like "throwing sand in the eyes of the umpire", and thus he is currently unable to successfully charge the alleged suspects on the more weighty crimes involved.

Either way, Libby lied for a reason...and it definitely wasn't because he got a hummer in the Oval Office. He's either covering for himself, or much bigger fish (Cheney). If he would have said "Yep, it was me"...he'd be facing way more serious charges, that he's so far been charged with perjury/obstruction shows he thought it serious enough that he'd blatantly lie to a Grand Jury.

Personally, I think this is FAR from over. Watergate started much in the same way.

(1) Count 1, item 1f: At all relevant times from January 1, 2002 through July 2003, Valerie Wilson was employed by the CIA, and her employment status was classified. Prior to July 14, 2003, Valerie Wilson's affiliation with the CIA was not common knowledge outside the intelligence community.

EDIT: Added relevant item from Indictment.
