Who said you have to be right to file a civil suit?

You're also a third party without direct interest whose only motivation is to hurt his business.  That does not go over well in court.

All he'd have to do is file the suit and he has already cost you some hard $$$.  Don't be an idiot.

My motivation is to let his potential customers know what kind of person they are dealing with.

Hey, the risk is yours, I'm just warning you.  The risk of having to defend yourself in a civil suit here is very real and quite expensive.

Well I appreciate you throwing that out there. If he hadn't thought of it before he probably has now. :(

Edit: I took it down temporarily. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Do a search for "I hate best buy":

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=I+hate+best+buy&FORM=MSNH&srch_type=0
Web ResultsPage 1 of 514,053 results containing I hate best buy

As long as you don't try and convince the visitor that they are at the actual site, you're fine (just can't tell lies).

Name one thing on the page that is false

You are missing the point, and my point is as big and obvious as the ocean.  It mystifies me that I have to elaborate.

IT COSTS MONEY TO DEFEND A LAWSUIT, EVEN IF YOU WIN.

Not if there isn't a case to begin with.  That's why it says "you will not have a case", not "you will win your case".

Even if charges were somehow filed, Stingray would get money in the end with a countersuit.  Now shut up before I sue you  ;).

I suppose if it were truely a concern, it could just be brought over to 100 different Geocities accounts... hint... hint.

I've been considering the free web hosting option this morning, but have taken no action.

Is there a lawyer in the house?

I know it's not criminal.  What do you call it when someone files papers to sue another person?

Civil.  And defending yourself against a civil suit is very expensive, from day 1, whether or not the suit has any actual merit.

LOL.  I know it's civil.  I mean if you can't call it "charges" (implies criminal), what do you call it to imply a civil filing?

I'll look around and see if I can find anyone else that has posted a summary.

I would think "accusations" would fit what you are looking for.

CT's point is well-taken, though, the suit doesn't have to be legitimate to be filed, and would need to be defended regardless. . .

**Sigh** I love living in a world where just the possibility of a frivolous lawsuit can intimidate me. I guess I'll leave the GD page offline. :(

I know the feeling (only too well).  Then again, someone can sue you b/c your brown/blonde/gray hair offends them and they think you should change it, so over-paranoia isn't great either. . .

Now you see why large organizations are so dumbass all the time.  Look at your own school.  I'll bet they bend over and do retarded things all the time, just to avoid the possibility of some idiot suing them because their Latino son doesn't get special consideration when the cafeteria has pizza on fridays.
