Sandwiching marquee - other options than perspex/plexi???

I managed to get some pretty thin Perspex from my local Focus.  Not sure if it is 1 or 2mm thick.

Mind you I had a job getting it.  I asked if they could lend me a saw or whatever to cut the perspex so I could fit it into my Mini.  They said yes, so I bought the sheet of perspex.  Then I said 'can I have that saw then please' and the guy looked around his customer service desk and said 'oh I don't seem to have a saw'.  Then he pulled out a large-tooth wood saw and suggested I try that.  I expressed my concern that it would just smash the perspex and suggested he give me a stanley knife and rule instead.  Guess what...no knife or rule.  By this point I was pretty pissed off and use a few expletives.  I mean a DIY store with no knife!?!!  Anyway ended up getting a box cutting knife and an old wooden rule.  What took the biscuit is that they wouldn't let me do it inside so I had to lean on the roof of a Postman Pat childrens ride out the front!  I don't think I've ever met such a --missioncontrol--.  I'm wound up just thinking about it...
