Many arcade controls (analog sticks, trackballs etc), and I believe it is there to prevent a static build up from damaging any electronics. I don't bother wiring it to anything, but if you are concerned you just need to wire it to an earth point. |

We could get into a whole grounding theory, but grounds are not always equal. Also, earth is commonly used for a type of GND in the US. ;) As for using the Earth GNDs, for where I live, there is a lot of static in the winter. I tie all my GND all metal compnents to earth. ie.spinner, Trackball, etc. If not one, one touch and the PC will reboot and could potentially cause damage to it. |
