Bummer  :'(

jtkauff:

Any quarter mechs left? I'm assuming not, but figure it's worth asking.

The nibs are definitely part of the mech (molded plastic) but that's really not a big deal. If you need nibs, and there aren't any, you don't have to drill and tap, you can just take a metal nib and screw it into the mech.  I do it at work all the time.

I am a tad confused. Maybe I am just silly... but you say that there are two holes per side top and bottom. This would mean that the nibs are not a molded part of the side. Then the next sentence you say the nibs are definitely part of the mech. These both can't be true at the same time.

I am looking for the mechs with threaded holes on the side. I do not want coin mechs with molded nibs. I have a bucket Happ plastic coin mechs that have the nubs molded into them and I do not want any more of these ever again.

Do your mechs have threaded holes on the side?

Do your mechs have molded nubs instead of threaded holes?

Is there a maker's name on them (Happ,Imonex,CoinMechanism) this might answer the above questions.

IIRC They're Coin Controls mechs.  The nibs are molded into the sides.  They're hollowish, so if you remove them, there is a hole remaining.  So yes, my statement is true.  Both having holes on the sides AND having molded nibs.  If the nib is missing you can take a metal nib and screw it right into the hole that remains.

So...overall, since there are molded nibs on these, *you* don't want them.

Hollow? Wow, now that is a useful bit of info.

The ones from Happ are solid and made of that rather brittle black plastic that looks like it might even be a fiberglass composite. That is my frame of reference. I had no idea that there were hollow nubbed mechs in existence.

I tried working the Happ ones (they stink). They were hard and after you snapped them off you end up with a very rough surface that was a bear to drill straight. I really hate the Happ ones that I got last round. Furthermore the batch that I received jammed and false reject at a very high rate. I now have 18 mechs that are useless to me that I paid a lot for, I have to alter to fit into my doors, and after all of the work I am unhappy with the results.

Knowing nothing about the coin mechs in your possession, I can only ask questions and try to figure out what you have.  I was mistaken when I assumed that the nubs were solid. I am sorry for any offence that you may have taken.
