That makes sense...so it seems the only benefit is you can leave it plugged in.

The smartstrip is more commonly known in the UK as an Intelligent Mains extension lead.

There is one available at Maplins (click here)

To facilitate easy turning on and off I spliced the wire from the PC on/off button and connected to an ordinary arcade button on the side of the cab.
