So you've built an Arcade Machine. Your Jukebox is almost done. No what? I found the answer on SlashDot today!  Bar Monkey!

That's awesome!  I hope the post how they did it.  I would love to build something like that.  Only instead of having to know the drink code, if you could pick it from a memu....hmm...maybe another use for that P.O.S. laptop??

Their idea has potential, but is the box keeping the contents cold? They have juice and coke in there.  Mmm...flat coke :)

Whats with the 2 liter bottles?  ew.

It would have been cheaper to make a keg-a-rator.

I wondered about the legality of that. They don't have a license to resell alcohol.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

I never changed my homepage....From the website:

Update: A few people have offered to host the site. I appreciate the offers, and I may decide to take one of them up on it. For now, it's the best idea just to stay low profile.
See above: Please, no more offers for hosting. I have plenty.
Also, I understand everyone's interest, but I don't want to get in more trouble until I get the issues with the school sorted out. For those building Bar Monkeys: Please be patient. I cannot respond to all of your emails, due to volume, so I ask that you wait until the site comes back up (possibly on another server) instead ofasking me for directions in person.
I promise that the directions will be available when this gets figured out. Please be patient, and check back every now and then.

The site has been mirrored. (Thanks to FourSKY, who did it without even my asking) All of the original info is still present, but still no detailed directions, sorry. www.barmonkey.net Hopefully, since it's not on the school's server, it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

The guts are brilliant...... (except the pumps, eek!)

The finish? HORRIBLE!!! They need a properly built and finished cabinet.... or better yet, build it in a fridge!  ;D They need servo controlled stoppers for the cola too. heh

You see the laminate around the lcd display? Ack! Buy them a router!  ;)

It's a cool little mini-cab that has pumps connected to different types of alcohol and mixers - the person just types a code and it automatically mixes the drinks for them.  I believe there was some legal issues about the card system it used(buying drinks) and the fact it was in a frat/dorm.  Nice concept, though I don't remember if they figured out how to clean the pump hoses between drinks - even flushing with water would waste precious precious alcohol.

Every drink had its own hose I believe, so there was no cross contamination.

The issue with the pumps I believe was that they were orginally windsheild washer pumps that had oils and such in them.

I would have liked to see a more interactive user interface.  Ya know, something with a touchscreen.  That way looking through the database for a different drink would be like looking for songs on a jukebox.  Something with a coin slot too, so if you just wanted a shot you could pump quarters into it.

Just an update folks, the website is back up.

The brother of a member on LS1.com made that. Him and a friend. I believe they are working of a model that refrigerates the beverages.

the site seems to be back up and running...

and planetjay, while this may seem like the 'next logical step' to you, i beg to differ...

to me, the next logical step at this point is building a Whack-A-Mole cabinet!!  ;D who's with me??

I'd build a 'whack-an-iraqi' game.. :D

OK, that's not fair to all iraqi's but 'Whack-a-saddam' just doesn't have the same ring to it.

haha yeah.. whack-al-queda
instead of gerbils.. you have guys in turbins with a bomb/knife/ak-47.. and you thwack em good :D

especially if you could have it play a sound each time one of them got whacked.. synonomous with wolf3d when you killed a nazi..

It would be difficult to make one of those I think???  Best bet is probably to buy one and mod it?
