Rather than discuss a local meetup in Mr. Bubblehead's sell thread, I have brought this here.

I would like to open discussion on a meetup here in the near future. I would suggest the 1984 arcade as a meeting place. Mid to late October as a timeframe. I will check with Devin at 1984, and see if we can have a special time to meet, maybe even an off night, so we can have the run of the place.

Everyone toss out some dates that will work, ideas, etc.

Thursday evenings are no good for me. Any other time is fine, day or night. I think that I will be out of town the first weekend in October, though.

i'm in for sure and just about any date will be fine.

dave, if my game room wasn't so small i'd be all about having some people over, but it's really cramped in there. i'm not sure it would work........ now, if we were to have a work on crsdawgs projects party, it'd be a different story.

I'm no good for Wednesdays or Thursdays. Fridays are best. The only Friday that might be bad for me is the one before the St Louis auction

. I'll PM Devin and get his thoughts on a good time to come to minimize the crowd interference. Maybe he will volunteer a Sunday afternoon or something.

Chris, If you don't have enough room I would be glad to house your games in my garage for the meetup. I'll need to bring them in early, though. Next week would be fine

Well, I was shooting for some time in October. We could/should have a "discuss our plans for meetup... meetup" next Friday night. at 5:30 and later at 1984.

The official Mid-America BYOAC label must be a duct tape BYOAC tag on your favorite ball cap or pocket protector.

Chime in on this thread if your coming.

We should also set one up on a Saturday evening for our out of town traveling friends.

Well,

The first meetup was a great time. Mr. Bubblehead, crsdawg, nostrebor, and delong20 were the board members in attendance. Played some games, had a visit, played a buch of games, grabbed some pizza, played some games. Mostly we played some games

1984 was the perfect place for this. (Duh) We'll be doing this again some time in the future. Probably on a Saturday so the St. Louis/KC guys that want to join in can.

Definately a good time. Everyone was cool, no nerds or weirdos in the bunch (I feared that someone would show up in their Star Trek or cosplay uniform ready to throw down).

We definately need to plan a big get together soon, on a day that will accomodate some out-of-town members.

Lightweight.

I've driven 600 miles one way for a pizza before. Earlier this year I drove to Phoenix, AZ just for a BBQ. And I just got back from driving a 2200 road trip (one way!) in a 40-year vehicle I purchased out on the west coast

Actually I may be in St. Louis around that time! Also, everyone is welcome over to my place if/when we get kicked out of 1984, I will have cold barley pop and soft drinks on hand.

Saturday the 31st is a really bad day for a meetup - the place will be absolutely packed with downtown Springfield's "First Night" attendees. IMHO, the idea would be for us to hit it on a slow night, so we have better access to the gameses.

I do think that our first 2006 meetup should be on a Saturday. Maybe sometime in Feb or March??

Also, if we can get a commited group of 10 or more we can schedule a private party and have the whole place to ourselves. We will have to set that date in advance though, so we can get on Devin's schedule. A noon Saturday time would be good, then those that wanted, could stay on for the evening. (I think? Have to confirm that with Devin)

I would be happy to set this up in the spring, if there is enough interest.

Yeah, we definitely need another get-together. I was down at the arcade last week, and they have expanded! They were setting up the 2-player Pong when I was there and that thing is off the hook!!!!!!
