LED help - Please dont flame me!
darthbane2k:
okay -
I basicly need a Red LED light to put in my push-to-reject-coin button on my coin door.
I have searched the forums but found no solution that makes sense to me.
Ideally I'd like the PC to power this, not sure how, and I will need the lead to stretch from the PC to the coin door.
Now I searched google and all i have found are molex connectors that light up - thats no good as I simply want a LED that lights and is plugged into a molex?
Im confused..
anyway im based in the UK. maplin.co.uk has tons of LEDs but I have no idea which is the right one to go for.
Can anyone point me in the direction to a specific product.
Note I dont want a complicated solution where I will have to strip wires etc..
Level42:
Not flaming, but if you think stripping a wire is complicated.....this may not be the right place for you ? This is all about building your own arcade controls and stripping a wire is not exactly the most challenging thing you'd need to be able to do. Don't think you will find a 12V/5V disk drive type connector with a LED fitted.
You'd need a high bright LED, a resistor, some wire and a connector to connect to the PC power supply. You'd need to solder the resistor to the LED and the wires, so stripping is only the start. Its really not that complicated at all...
Bones:
I have to agree. If you can tie your own shoelaces you can wire up a LED. Try it, if you fail you are only out of pocket by $5
darthbane2k:
Its not so much that its complicated its the fact that its impractical for me to do it at this stage.
No need for the snobbery thank you.

Seriously man, I wasn't being a snob. You have misunderstood my intentions.
