Dragon's Lair, (mostly because it was 50 cents a play versus 25 for everything else)

So you played a game because it cost more than others?  ???

no he spent most on it cos it cost more ;)

What he said.  :)

My bus stop was at an ice cream joint called Tastee Treat. In the back they had a few games that I'd play before the bus got there. Sometimes I'd miss the buss and have to haul ass across town to the last bus stop. Here's what I remember them having.

Super Mario Bros.
Empire City
Western Express
Mat Mania
Altered Beast

But there's no telling what game took my most money.

Joes Pizza had a few games I'd hang out and play. But then you have the classics such as Pacman and Centipede that have always erased quarters from my pockets.

EDIT:

hehe... didn't read the whole thread so I didn't see my previous posts. Didn't realize I was responding to a thread I responded to 2 years ago....

Probably Mad Dog Mcree, it was the one game I really focused on for any length of time, which wasn't very long, but at $1 a pop, it goes quick.

Galaga
Asteroids
Missile Command
Phoenix
Pacman

Galaga wins for the most quarters taken because I play it every time I see one and have been addicted to it forever. Asteroids probably sucked up the most quarters in the shortest amount of time though. I bet I dumped 3-5 bucks every time I played it. Since my MAME machine has been built, I bet I have played Asteroids 300 times. Still can’t get past 55,000…

I loved beat'em ups.  X-men, Knights of the Round and TMNT all took a lot of my quarters back in the day.

Super Punch-Out by far. I played it every chance I got for about a year (1987/1988). I had a rivalry going with an older kid for high score on the machine, so that "helped" (lol).

Other games I played a lot included:

Punch-Out
Karate Champ
Excitebike
Super Dodge Ball
Street Fighter II

as a youngster when i would get bollocked for spending my pocket money on games instead of books for example.

i would say
pac man (they had one in the bakery)
gorf (in the burger bar)
frogger (in the train station)
moon cresta ( in the italian cafe)

we did have an arcade but my mums friend worked there so i was pretty quickly found out
got COLOR codes from projects, post them here

add stuff to the uk wiki section

Marble Madness....what a great game....

and Spint......

And who could forget Wizard of Wor......

And holy crappers, I never paid more than .50 cents. I go to the arcade these days and see games for $1....Youch!
Vids:  Home built MAME machine, Crystal Castles. Arkanoid
Pins:   Williams Aztec (working). Stern Nugent (not working...yet), Williams Phoenix (major not working, missing parts.... )

Always on the lookout for buying 90's game with Ramps that need work...

I'm 29 but i first started going to the arcade at the time Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat first came out and those games were the best ever to play in an arcade. There were so many people who went to arcades at that time and playing other people in those games was the best times i remember having with games.

Nothing like that will ever happen again, after that the downfall of arcades had taken place but we still can relive the games with Mame.

I don't think having a good time in an arcade can ever happen again as it did in the early 90's.
