Acorn:
The gun "reads" where the scanlines are, and approximates a position based off the timing of these. The RCA in is so the gun can read the sync data (again, for timing). AFAIK, projectors don't usually scan like this, however, rear projection TV's will work with a *very* limited number of guns.... so there is some possibility, depends on your projector... Expect it not to work, that way you won't be disappointed if it doesn't :)

Toonces, I'd be interested to know why you say Guncon2Mouse only will work? If the gun works with the projector, I can't see why WinGun wouldn't?

Indeed. LCDs, DLPs, and plasma displays have no scan.

And only SOME rear-projection TVs use CRTs. The preference now is DLP or LCD.

I am using an ArcadeVGA card (9200). I tried it but got nothing. Guncon2mouse works for me though.

Wow, I never thought about it... but mine does!  Sure it sucks.. and its super limited (can't get it closer to the wall then a location that makes it not fit on my screen... and its washed out)...  but it DOES use scanlines!

I should try it sometime.  I need a good wall to project it onto.  I was going to hang it down from my garage and point it down onto my driveway for a big cocktail table... Since I couldn't get a big enough screen...  But that project got pushed back a summer :(

might have to move it back inside... time to search the new house for the biggest blank wall.
