The RCA in is so the gun can read the sync data (again, for timing). AFAIK, projectors don't usually scan like this, however, rear projection TV's will work with a *very* limited number of guns.... so there is some possibility, depends on your projector... Expect it not to work, that way you won't be disappointed if it doesn't :)

Toonces, I'd be interested to know why you say Guncon2Mouse only will work? If the gun works with the projector, I can't see why WinGun wouldn't?

I am using an ArcadeVGA card (9200). I tried it but got nothing. Guncon2mouse works for me though.

A couple of other people have had this problem - every time it has been because the driver did not get installed and/or the program was not running. WinGun itself works fine with the ArcadeVGA's, one of my main beta testers uses this card.

Anyway, since it has been requested, and more people than I knew about were having installation troubles, I've wrapped it in an installer. Toonces, if you feel like it you can try http://guncon.acornscity.com/Downloads/WinGunV0.7B.exe . If it doesn't work, and you would like to help resolve whatever the issue is, post at http://guncon.acornscity.com or contact me on IM.

Lilwolf: If you get your projector set up and it works (with the Guncon2), let us know! I kinda have my doubts about it working ever... but it could :)

What about Windows 2000? What happens if both players shoot at the exact same time (I'm guessing you are switching the mouse between the two players and figuring it out based on trigger)?

Acorn:

While Windows 2000 should still be supported, the effect is the same :( It is possible I suppose to rewrite the driver for 98 and truely support multiple mice, but I have no plans of doing so at the moment as this route works fine.

Guncon2's are NOT act lab lightguns - I have no trouble telling which gun is which (this issue has came up before, will add it to the FAQ sometime). You can assign the trigger on any gun to any keyboard or mouse button you like. So the basic effect on XP supporting only one mouse is this: only one gun at a time can "track" on the screen, and if you are using drag mode you cannot double assign buttons and expect it to work (in other words, you can't assign gun #1 and gun #2's trigger to mouse1, press both at the same time, and expect two clicks in drag mode. You can't press a mouse button again before you release it). With single mode, even if both users press at the exact same time and the triggers on both guns are assigned to the same button both shots will be fired.

I am not sure exactly how Guncon2Mouse handles all the different issues that arise with having two guns on one mouse, I've not tested like that yet.

Hmm, That is strange because I did have it installed and the program was running but I will try it again. I'd be happy to assist with any problem resolution.

Thanks!

Toonces.

Toonces:

Ok, I tried the installer and got the same thing as last time. Nothing. So I dug further and even though the driver says it installed, in reality it did not. The inf file processed but the files didn't actually copy over to system32\drivers. I did an update driver from the device in Device Manager and it copied the files and it works! I must say that for my gun, WinGun DOES work better. I have a Wireless Hais Lightgun that supports 100Hz TV and it is much steadier than with the Guncon2mouse driver.

Now if I can just get 2 of them to work in MAME I'll be set. No Forcefeedback but overall a really nice gun.

Thanks,

Toonces
