I plan to just order the kit rather than cut and prepare the wood myself, so I'm hoping to find a tv that fits in the existing scheme. The Insignia one sounds like it'd fit, although I've never heard of that company before.

Look at my post above.   The JVC works perfectly if you can find it.   It has component input and I am using it with an ATI card and the DVI to component adapter and it works awesome.   Better than s-video with very little over scan.  I run at 640x432 and all games look really good.    Like I said above the you can still find it at some Conn Appliance stores.   You might also find it other places as well.  I have seen some of Ebay also.

Well I picked up the Insignia and other than the Silver color (which all TV's seem to be these days), this is a pretty good TV for the price.

It does remember last channel but I don't think it will remember the power on state even though I haven't tried it.  ( I don't have a bezel and just turn it on by hand.)

But the channel memory is a good thing for sure.  It fit perfectly in my cab with about a 1/2 inch on either side to spare.

MinerAl:

Most tv tubes are held into the plastic case with 4 screws/bolts.  Without a great deal of effort or stress, you can take the case off the tube and boards in a tv.  Then just screw the tube to a board with an appropriately sized hole in it and mount it that way.   Put the speakers anywhere (or nowhere) you want.  I mounted a 24" Apex TV this way 4 years ago and threw out the side speakers... still works great and fits the original 24" hole in the cab perfectly.
